Description of Event:

Once again, Ajax residents and visitors are invited to come out and welcome Santa when he arrives in town for “Santa’s Magical Parade of Lights”. The parade begins at the intersection of Bayly Street and Mackenzie Avenue, proceeding east along Bayly and then north on Harwood Avenue South, concluding at Ajax Town Hall. Immediately following the parade will be a special tree lighting ceremony at Town Hall (65 Harwood Avenue South) with children’s activities. Braithwaite & Whiteley with Special Guest Chuck Jackson Since their first collaboration in 2005, their albums have garnered rave reviews, and extensive air play, reaching number 1 on B.B. Kings Bluesville XM Sirius satellite radio network. Collectively Diana Braithwaite and Chris Whiteley have been awarded 9 Maple Blues Awards and 6 Juno Nominations. Toronto born and raised, her ancestors traveled to Canada from Virginia, via the Underground Railroad. A gifted and captivating performer, Diana Braithwaite was chosen by Sarah McLachlan to open Lilith Fair at the Molson Amphitheatre, before 18,000 people. Her talent, and authentic blues shows have led her into the company of such stalwarts as Mel Brown, Albert Collins, John Lee Hooker and Jeff Healey. Kansas born Chris Whiteley moved with his family to Toronto as a teenager, where he met blues legend Lonnie Johnson, who taught and encouraged him. He toured and recorded with both Leon Redbone and the legendary Chicago piano player Blind John Davis, In 2010 Whiteley was awarded the prestigious Blues with a Feeling Award, for lifetime achievement in the blues. Description of Event:

"Shine On: The Universe of John Lennon" features a spectacular group made up of some of Canada's most renowned musicians, performing the music of John Lennon and The Beatles, and uniquely arranged by Juno Award Nominee Michael Occhipinti. Among the pieces the group performs are "Instant Karma", which is transformed by new harmony and rhythm, "Tomorrow Never Knows", "I'm Only Sleeping", "Across The Universe", "Julia", and "Beautiful Boy", some of Lennon's most tender works. Pieces such as "Whatever Gets You Through The Night" and "Don't Let Me Down" allow the band to have some fun with funkier grooves. Sold out crowds have proven people are thrilled to hear John Lennon's work presented in these incredible new ways. Cash Bar available.
