Come out and cheer on Durham Regions Roller Derby girls in their first home games of the season!! Doors open at 5pm and the first whistle blows at 6pm as Durham's Motor City Madames take on the Lindsay girls in this hard-hitting action packed sport. Stick around because at 8pm Durham's Atom Smashers will be wreaking havoc on the Hamilton Bombers. Fun for all ages, children under 12 are free with a paying adult. Now in its second year, we have expanded this event to showcase many community organizations serving persons with disabilities. This year our guests will include: Durham Region Transit Specialized Services, the Canadian Hearing Society, Shoppers Home Health Care, Autism Ontario, Durham Mental Health Services, the Abilities Centre and more! Drop by and visit our accessibility try-it stations for a first-hand disability experience. All participants who complete their All-Access Pass by visiting the various stations, will have a chance to win an Accessibility Prize Pack! The event is family-friendly and participants will receive free giveaways while quanitities last. Help us Cultivate Inclusion ??? Join Community Care Durham as we "Walk for Mental Health Awareness"! This is the 10th Anniversary of this fundraising event which takes place on Saturday, June 6, 9 a.m. to noon, and the first 200 registrants receive an official 10th Anniversary Walk t-shirt. Walk 1, 2 or 5 km. along the Waterfront Trail at Heydenshore Park in Whitby. Enjoy a morning of family fun with entertainment, music, children's activities, information booths, a free BBQ lunch and amazing prizes. Proceeds go to support all Community Care Durham sites. The 10th Annual Walk for Mental Health Awareness not only serves as a fundraiser but also raises awareness of mental health issues in our community.
