Description of Event:
Cyclists of all skill levels are invited to “Ride with the Mayor(s)” along the waterfront trail in Durham Region. From “easy rollers” to more experienced riders our course options are designed to provide an enjoyable ride for everyone. Riders may ride in a group with a leader to assist with directions and emergency repairs, or they may ride on their own.
Cyclists arriving in Oshawa via GO Transit will be met by a group leader at the Oshawa Go Station at 9:08am which will enable the GO group to start from Lakeview at 10:00am.
There will be an eastern loop which will be approximately 50 km round trip and a western loop which will be approximately 25 km round trip.
There will be water stops and refreshments provided.
Riders are asked to register in advance online; a minimal fee of $10 will support the United Way of Durham Region. Riders may raise additional funds in support of the 50 United Way charities in Durham, but it is not a requirement to participate.
There will be a chance to win a Giant or a Pinarello Bike.
The United Way is grateful to the City of Oshawa, the Oshawa Cycling Club and their members, and our other community partners for their assistance.

Guided walk with Marie Thomas & Larry Noonan. With the forest floor open to warm sunlight, the spring ephemeral season promises a showcase of trilliums, trout lilies and other flora peeking through. Come take a walk to discover the newest flowers to show their faces to the Altona Forest. Rain or shine, please dress appropriately and wear proper footwear.
No dogs on hikes and no insect nets.

Join Community Care Durham as we “Walk for Mental Health”. Walk 1 km., 2 km. or 5 km. along the Waterfront Trail at Heydenshore Park in Whitby. Join the Artists in the Garden Committee on Saturday, May 26, 2012 for their 2nd Annual Plant Sale in the parking lot of Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre (86 Colborne St., W., Oshawa). The 1 day event runs from 8:30 am to 1 pm. A variety of plants including perennials, annuals, herbs and veggie plants are available for sale.
