Since 1995 I have worked for the Unifor Social Justice Fund.

This Fund was established in 1990 to focus on the needs of people and wherever possible work at the grassroots level with local people determining their own needs rather than imposed from the top. The SJF has supported hundreds of projects and has been instrumental in bringing great change to many communities in Canada and Internationally.

I have a great passion for social justice and believe that strengthening communities is key to building a better life for everyone from youth to seniors.

Working for this Fund has given me the opportunity to witness first-hand what is possible when people choose to work together.

I have seen hopeless and devastated communities come together and join as one to achieve great success by educating, listening, uniting and mobilizing the skills of individuals in their communities to make a difference.

I believe community input and consultation with leadership are essential when important decisions are being made at council that will affect our communities, residents and local business' expectations, choices and standards.

As a Pickering community advocate, I believe everyone should have the opportunity to be heard, including the youth and not just those with the loudest voices.

This January, I will bring my 21 years of experience working with community organizations worldwide to City Council where I want to hear your voice.
