In this episode, Brian has coffee with Tina Wieringa, Program Director with Essential Communications. Essential Communications specializes in the delivery and continuous coach for entrepreneurs who are a part of the Ontario Self Employment Benefit Program (OSEB).
Essential Communications offers the ability for local residents to start their own business while receiving a living allowance. This program is called the OSEB Ontario Self Employment Benefit Program. Funded through Employment Ontario.
42 Week program, including 7 weeks in class.
The Criteria are that people who have been on employment insurance within the last 2 years or maternity or paternity in the pas 3-5 years.
It is Durham Regionís equivalent of ĎDragonís Dení, with an extensive intake including a panel presentation.
Last intake there were 140 applicants with 27 accepted, but that varies throughout the year. 125 new business are started with this program every year.
