December 28, 2013 - Premier Kathleen Wynne dropped by Pickering City Hall for a hot cup of coffee and a chance to personally thank all of the hydro, emergency and administrative workers and volunteers who sprang into action during the recent ice storm.  Members of the Pickering Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services, Saint Johnís Ambulance, OVERT Rescue Operations, Red Cross, Salvation Army and City Services, Operations and Administrative staff were able to to meet and chat with Ontarioís Premier.

Unfortunately, due to the large amount of restorative work still going on in Pickeringís north end, Veridian Connectionís linesmen were not able to attend however, Veridian Board of Directors Chair, Doug Dickerson, and Veridian President and CEO, Michael Angemeer, graciously accepted the Premierís thanks on behalf of Veridian.

Minister of Provincial Parliament Pickering-Scarborough East Tracy MacCharles, Mayor Dave Ryan, Deputy Mayor Doug Dickerson, Regional Councillor Peter Rodrigues, and Councillors David Pickles and Kevin Ashe were on hand to greet Premier Wynne.

Premier Wynne notes that, in the aftermath of the storm, the new concern is food donations to those who have lost food to spoilage during the outage and are now unable to afford to replace that food.  She assures residents that the Province is organizing distribution efforts to those hit the hardest.

AjaxPickering.ca requests that anyone able to donate to our local food bank please do so during this time of need.
