Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne Personally Thanks Workers and Volunteers
December 28, 2013 - Premier Kathleen Wynne dropped by Pickering
City Hall for a hot cup of coffee and a chance to personally thank all of the
hydro, emergency and administrative workers and volunteers who
sprang into action during the recent ice storm. Members of the Pickering Fire Department,
Emergency Medical Services, Saint Johnís Ambulance, OVERT Rescue Operations,
Red Cross, Salvation Army and City Services, Operations and Administrative staff
were able to to meet and chat with Ontarioís Premier.
Unfortunately, due to the large amount of restorative work still going on in Pickeringís
north end, Veridian Connectionís linesmen were not able to attend however, Veridian
Board of Directors Chair, Doug Dickerson, and Veridian President and
CEO, Michael Angemeer, graciously accepted the Premierís thanks on
behalf of Veridian.
Minister of Provincial
Parliament Pickering-Scarborough East Tracy MacCharles, Mayor Dave Ryan, Deputy
Mayor Doug Dickerson, Regional Councillor Peter Rodrigues, and Councillors
David Pickles and Kevin Ashe were on hand to greet Premier Wynne.
Premier Wynne notes that, in the aftermath of
the storm, the new concern is food donations to those who have lost food to spoilage during the outage and are now unable to afford to replace that food. She assures residents that the Province is organizing distribution efforts to those hit the hardest.
