Many of our neighbourhoods are still without power. When the power is out, heat does not work and you might find yourself looking for somewhere warm and safe to gather to get warmth and relief. Here are the locations for the warming centres offered by the municipalities.
The Recreation Complex - 1867 Valley Farm Road - has been opened as a warming station. Please bring whatever you need to be comfortable (water, refreshments, blanket).
Our crews are out addressing fallen trees, branches, and roads that are causing hazardous conditions. All reports will be dealt with on a priority basis. Additional updates are available on our Facebook page. We appreciate your patience.
The Town has upgraded the Warming Centre at Ajax Community Centre (75 Centennial Road) to a Welcome Centre for tonight. The centre is being activated in the HSM Ajax Room. New amenities include cots, meals and first aid station. Durham Region Emergency Management Office, Public Health, Ajax/Pickering Hospital, Salvation Army, Red Cross and OVERT have deployed staff and resources.
