“I tip my hat to the Picov family, Ajax Downs and to the members and the President of the Ontario Quarter Horse Owners, Bob Broadstock. I also acknowledge the three political parties “Racing Committee”, and past Agriculture Minister McMeekin. Being one of three government members who used strategic voting to support the jobs and the horse racing tracks, I acknowledge your new Premier Kathleen Wynne. She has added the Minister of Agriculture position for one year to her Premier’s portfolio. That’s a great sign for horse and farming jobs, and horse racing and the tracks! See you at Ajax Downs!, commented Joe Dickson, MPP Ajax-Pickering.
The new Ontario government will continue to negotiate agreements with other interested race tracks to provide transition funding for the next three years in order to ensure a strong future for horse racing in the province. Premier Kathleen Wynne adds “Ontario’s horse racing and breeding industries are an important part of a healthy economy in Ontario. We will continue to work in consultation with the industry partners for the long-term good of the industry and the province.”
