Durham Regional Police along with the City of Pickering By-law Enforcement team wrapped up the 4th Annual 'Toys for Tickets' and 'Food for Fines' campaign. This year 54 tickets written between December 1st to 14th, amounting in $1,350 in fines, were paid with $2,000 in food and toy donations.
This amounted in nine boxes of food to be distributed to needy families in our community this holiday season.
We extend congratulations to the Durham Regional Police Service and the City of Pickering for continuing such an innovative and effective program.
As a reminder to all residents: Stay safe this holiday season and obey the rules of the road. Please do not drink and drive and if you do drink, arrange for a designated driver to get you home safely.
