Before you even walk in the door at the Bombay Grill in Pickering Village you can catch the delicious scent of tandoori and authentic Indian barbeque from the parking lot. As you open the front door, the subtle perfume of jasmine incense envelopes you in the vestibule. When a smiling Shyam Aryal, owner and proprietor, greets you into the restaurant you know you are in for a sensory treat. Warmly decorated in rich gold and wine tones with dark, aged wood, the restaurant is the perfect place to let yourself be swept away to an exotic land of savory spices, flavourful vegetable dishes and succulent meats. The house specialties include Butter Chicken, Vindaloo, Tandoori Mixed Grill, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Biryani to name a few favourites of this author’s.
The Bombay Grill offers a lunch buffet for those that are new to Indian Cuisine and wish to sample different dishes. To make the choices easier, there also four very popular dinner specials for two that include appetizers, entrees and dessert. These range from “Mild” to “Medium” to “Spicy” or “Vegetarian”. Should you prefer to order from the extensive main menu, Bombay Grill’s wait staff is eager to help if you have any questions. Shyam believes very strongly in the “QQSC” of restaurateurs. That is “Quality”, “Quantity”, “Service”, and “Cleanliness”. He adds an “H” to his proprietary list by stating that the food must be “Healthy” too, “Unfortunately some Indian restaurants are fast serve, so they fry their food which makes it greasy.

In the dining room, you will find that spacing around each table allows for privacy. With a selection of booths and chairs set-up for private parties or groups are a snap. Please call ahead for reservations if your group is large so that arrangements may be made to seat you comfortably. The dining room seats 100 people and the patio an additional 35 guests. Most conveniently, the Bombay Grill caters to private events whether it is birthdays, engagement, anniversary, and office parties.
The Bombay Grill’s chefs are certified Indian chefs who have worked in some of the most exclusive restaurants in Delhi, India. Shyam encourages customers to try the menu corner to corner; there are no unauthentic dishes offered. Everything is Indian from the vegetable samosas with Tamarind Sauce to the Mango Lassis and Masala Chais.
